It's official. Saturday evening is general chat time. Log in and if there's no one there, leave the window open. You'll hear the sound of a door closing if someone joins you, so you won't miss them if you're busy elsewhere online.
If you feel like chatting any other time, log into chat when you're online and see if anyone joins you.
