okay so i couldn't stop me - the weather on the pacific coast here in british columbia, is a little bit different than the rest of canada - most of which is in the midst of a nasty snow storm... the cherry tree just started to bloom a couple of weeks ago - today (maybe because my sister is arriving - and she usually brings bad weather) anyway, if you look close near the grass (green all winter!) you can see the SNOW. it came down for a whole 10 minutes! crazy because the temperature is 8 degrees(C) now of course it is sunny again. maybe we will have some next year. Isn't it nice when a bit of colour emerges and you can finally see that the end of winter's in sight. (10 minutes snow doesn't count!)
All my snowdrops are in flower and it really cheers me up when I come out of the front door and see them.

What a beautiful cherry blossom!
I recall one spring many years ago (I was a wee girl) when it snowed quite heavilly overnight. I was going to my friends house that day in the country and it was so strange seeing a 'white' world admist the blossom orchards. Obviously, we thought it was fantastic, but by lunchtime the warm sun had melted all the snow, much to our disappointment. Apparently it snowed one August in Britain in the 1950's or 60's. Does anyone else have recollections of 'freak' weather?Maria

Maria,
When I travel up to Falkirk, I sometimes stop at Coldstream. A pub there has some pictures taken in August one year - I forget the exact year, but it's in the relatively recent past. A blizzard is blowing and there's snow actually lying on the streets.
