Has anyone watched any of the Chelsea Flower Show on TV? I'm always amazed how delicious it all looks, if only my garden looked like some of those! Fabulous plants, but the item I really, really wanted this year was a piece of that wonderful driftwood that's being shipped over from Canada.

oh i love the chelsea flower show - or what i see of it on television - about 2 months after the fact! i can't believe the giant trees they move just for the show. last year there was a 'making of' the chelsea flower show on. it was really amazing all the work that goes into making it perfect.
chris, driftwood? if you need more let me know - the kids keep bringing it home from the beach - my son insists that piece is unique. we are tripping over it all in the backyard!

Lesley Try www.bbc.co.uk/gardening/events/chelsea2003 it has all the details and interactive 360 tours of the gardens. I'd gladly take your driftwood, we don't get much in landlocked Sheffield, England! I think the stuff shown at Chelsea comes from somewhere in B.C, it's a valley that was flooded to provide a reservoir and it was part of the paper industry so there were lots of cedars in it. Sounds like it's a national park as the woman that collects all this driftwood is the only one to have a licence to do so. The scenery was amazing.

chris, thanks for the site info. funny i've been on the bbc site many times for the plant finder info. too busy thinking of the plant i'm trying to find instead of looking at whats in front of me. typical me. the pictures online are fantastic - love the 360 degree shots. very inspired to garden now! how big of a piece of driftwood are you looking for?

Lesley Sorry didn't reply to you, went on my hols!. Driftwood size? Big enough to sit on or at least to look like an exotic garden sculpture. However if I'm getting my own from our nearest coast-line it will be twiglet size! Ah well! Chris

chris, hope you enjoyed your holiday. i'm hoping to go on mine in 2018. haha your driftwood idea (as a seat) sounds lovely. i don't think canada post (or the hubby) will let me send one in the mail! i've seen benches with the sides made from driftwood, and the middle (seat) with regular bench slats (cedar i think). good luck with it.
