There's not a lot happening in my garden at the moment. The urge to get out there with my trowel when the weather's like this is curiously absent. I'm still picking my home grown brussels sprouts though. It's nice to get a shot of the wrought iron gates which are my pride and joy. They show up much better when there's a layer of snow on them. Pity I didn't think to move the wheelie bin out of the shot though! Anyone else got any shots of their gardens in winter?

ann. great garden. the gate is just beautiful. in january (03 - 6) we actually had a heavy snowstorm. every 7 or 8 years this happens on vancouver island. glad it did. for the garden would have had a bug population increase if the snow and extreme cold (for here) didn't do away with them. here is a picture i took january 3, 2004. this was the first snowfall. the second was 2 days later. then by the 6th we were back to rain rain rain. for a moment i thought i was back in northern ontario with the 40 below weather! (ok not that cold. and we mostly stayed in. kids loved the snow) img4.photobucket.com/albums/0603/spiralcat/january_3_03.jpg[/img] lesley

Lesley, I see you follow the same philosophy as me, that it would be such a shame to spoil the look of things by actually setting foot in the back garden when there's snow lying!

ann, funny you should mention it , but yes, i won't let anyone walk on such a lovely snow covered scene! our first house had a large deck in the backyard. after a snow storm the drifts up on the deck looked so much like ice sculptures i couldn't let my husband wreck it by shovelling. besides, who was going to go out on the deck in the freezing cold? silly man lesley

We have some keen gardeners here Carol. My interest and expertise is very limited, hence the design of my garden(!), but I do enjoy growing vegetables and fruit and hearing about the successes of those who are more greenfingered than me.
