Wow! Now I know it works here are some more of the trip Abu Simbel on Lake Nassar Valley of the Kings, extremely hot! Treasures from Tutankhamen's tomb at the Cairo Museum Worth the trip just to see these, at that point you could still take photos in the museum, but without flash, we heard that since we visited they have stopped allowing this.

Phenomenal photos! Egypt holds so many mystiques’ the Pyramids, the Sphinx and all the other larger than life edifices. What a magnificent place to visit I envy you.

Sue - you are absolutely right!!! ;D I am a big Egypt fan!!
Chris - the photo's are amazing! Well done on getting the pictures posted. I need to crack the technology too now (although I suppose I could cheat slightly and just say that the Pyramids and the Sphinx looked exactly like that when I was there too....!!). You are right about the museum. When I was there last week ( ;D ooh that sounds good!!!) they were very strict and did not even allow cameras into the musuem, or let people use mobile phones. I agree that the Tutankhamun treasures are one of the highlights. Did you also go into the Mummy Room? It is somewhat sad (the Pharoahs would not be pleased to be ended up on display) but interesting. Rameses II is as grand and dignified as I expected him to be, and really does look like he's just closed his eyes for a few moments.
Thank you for sharing the pictures.

Maria So glad you got there, wasn't the museum fantastic? No, I didn't get into the Mummy room, the queue was SO long and we couldn't wait as we were on another tour to Memphis and Saqquara after that ( you know the sort of thing on tours, if it's Tuesday it must be........ ;D) I have some more photos to develop (stone age camera) yet from the museum with the jewellery on, so hope it comes out.
PS I want to see your photos as well from the pyramids, you'll have different camels on them. ;D

Chris - yes, the museum was brilliant, but it was hard to take everything in as I was just so overjoyed to be there.
I know what you mean about the tours. We had a fantastic guide, but it was funny, because she'd take 10 minutes at each stop to tell us how long we had in each place (never long enough) and why it was so important to be back on time!!
You must have had a great time seeing the rest of Egypt. I can't wait to go back and do the whole Nile thing. Did you fly to Abu Simbel, or take a coach trip, as I've heard it's quite a trek by road.
Will they be different camels at the pyramids....or different people selling things..? ("Asda Price Lady....One pound!") ;D Probably not, but I swear one guy with a camel, who was trying to get me to pay to take a picture of him, had a Manchester accent.

Maria
We flew from Cairo via Aswan to Abu Simbel and then had a coach ride to the actual site (the best site for tourist facilities in the whole trip) from the airport (used by the Eygptian airforce, bunkers/missile silos and fighter planes taking off as it's so close to the border) we heard that the road journey was dire! If you get to fly in, sit on the left hand side of the plane, it banks round over the lake on approach and you get an absolutely awesome view of Abu Simbel from the air. The guides were terrific both in Cairo and on the cruise, which we picked up in Aswan. Both knew their history, the one in Cairo did half hour lectures before letting us loose! I have to say though after a week and with the terrific temperatures we had, my eyes got a bit glazed and my daughter commented at one point that she felt 'all temple'd out'. ;D ;D

Thanks for the tip, Chris. When I do get to go to Abu Simbel (which I hope will be within the next year or two) I'll bag a seat on the left hand side of the plane. Maria
