SCARGS. From a character named Arthur Scargill, not known to our overseas friends, he was a miners leader during a famous strike in 1984 when Scargs was a kitten. My wife used to supply food to the striking families. A gentleman popped into her cottage one day with, as she puts it, 'a bundle of furious fur'. The cat survives but sadly, the mines do not.

I once had a beige chinchilla - I called her 'Qinshi' after a character in a set of old classics (The Story of the Stone). However, the chinchilla insisted on sitting hunched up on a log, pink ears twitching sleepily, and ended up being known to everyone as 'Mushroom'. So much for the grand name.
