I'm on a roll, I think I've just completed lines 2 and 3!
The sailors cried, but through the din "Goodbye", she cried as from a tomb.

Well done Ann. Now I se why the G is missing from 3.
7. Cries aloud Lord have [must be mercy, but don't see why]

According to the article I found she just cries "Lord have me", which is just as confusing. We can't even see what we're trying to find a rhyme for as we don't have the end of line 8 either.

Graham, you keep solving the bits that completely defeat me! That's a hag!
Cathrin, I think you're right about quick or quickly, but if line 2 is correct, then line one has to rhyme with din. All I can see is a boy jumpin or leapin..........................Ah! light dawns as I type!
"Come Mrs Rogers, quick jump in"

And vice versa, Ann. Perhaps great minds sometimes think differently!

Line 7 might be "Great Lord, have me" for the capital L.

Line 7 might be " Great Lord, have me" for the capital L. But where does the equation at the end come in??
