I haven't posted many messages but thought I ought to add in my two pennyworth about Rosco, one of my 5 Siamese cats. Not only does he 'whisper' when I whisper, but if I raise the volume, he does too, and vice versa. But his cleverest trick is when I want to get one of the other cats indoors from the garden - I ask him to call Faro, (for instance), and Rosco will stand at the door and yowl at the top of his voice! (He probably only obliges because he thinks that if I'm calling the others in there must be a pretty good reason for it - such as FOOD!!! ) 
The eldest of the five is the quietest, in that she doesn't vocalise very much, only when she absolutely MUST make a point, but the others always come in from outside, bellowing for me until they find me, and then proceeding to 'tell' me where they've been and what they've done. Faro, in particular, will NOT leave me alone until I acknowledge him, especially if he has been out in the rain, and then I have to make sympathetic noises at him and feel his paws to see how wet they are! Only then is he happy!
I love my cats!!!
