My sources tell me that Bailey's reached "that" age and went off to see the vet yesterday. Like all of us cat lovers who've been in a similar postition, Miles and Deb have been sitting gnawing their fingers and worrying. It's one thing telling yourself that it's a very routine op and nothing will go wrong, it's another completely when it's your special boy that it's happening to.
I understand he's back home and none the worse for his experience, albeit rather groggy from the anaesthetic still.
I thought members might like to send Bailey, Miles and Deb their good wishes. (I think Miles and Deb might take longer to recover from the experience than Bailey!)

Poor little man! Never mind Miles and Deb, he'll be a much happier cat when you're all over the dreaded 'tutoring'. Linda

Yes, it is a very traumatic time for cat owners and I remember it well, being terrified that something will go wrong. I hope that he coped well with the surgery and that you did too, Miles and Deb. Bailey will probably be playing again as if nothing has happened. He and Ribbons look so lovely together. Lily had to have her teeth cleaned recently and when she came home from the vet the other cats were horrified at the vet smell of her and treated her like a stranger! Poor Lily didn't know what she had done wrong, but all was well after a couple of days. Lily is only 18 months old so I was disturbed to find that her teeth needed cleaning at such a young age. She mostly eats dry cat food.

Thanks Ann and everyone...he made it thru just fine (probably much better than WE did...!)..he slept well the first night (I'm assuming he did, anyways - he didn't jump down on us at 2:30am from the top of the headboard....!) Ribbons was sooo attentive to him, never leaving his side from the time he came home...she let him curl up and sleep by himself while he was still coming out of the sedative, but she would lay down about a foot away....after a few hours, she curled up around him gently grooming him for a long time..it was soo cute, but I didn't get any pics because I didn't want to disturb the little guy...he fell asleep with his arm around her and slept thru the night.... The next day he was still a little quiet, not quite as active as usual, but you could see improvement with every hour that passed....he was eating and drinking normally, playing a bit, napping....the day after that he was back to his usual Intrepid Explorer/"no, Bailey - get DOWN from there"/fiercely-independent-yet-totally-bonded-to-Ribbons/still-needing-his-requisite-cuddle-time-with-Daddy self..... Thank you to all our friends who held our hands thru this... Bailey thanks you, too.... Miles
