is it just north america that has the 'big box stores'? if it is... big box stores are an american invention of course; everything is big big big. huge supersized stores for everything; home repairs, clothes, electronics and of course pets. we are going to 'petcetera' this evening. these stores aren't always the lowest price, but sometimes they are. mostly you walk for miles (not bailey's dad) until your feet ache, just for a deal. it can be fun. the pet store has every imaginable toy, brand of food etc. even though most people i know (me included) prefer local shops. however, they aren't open later than 5 or 6! perhaps if someone knows something about marketing they can explain this one! so, off to the land of big. cleo and coco aren't choosey about where their treats come from, as long as they get them.

We're getting more that way over here. Big warehouse type shops. They're fun to browse around, but they can be a nuisance if all you want is one item. By the time you've driven round the carpark, parked the car, wandered round the massive shop half a dozen times, looked for an assistant to ask, given up because you can't find one, carried on searching until you find said item, queued at a checkout behind a dozen people all paying by credit card, an entire afternoon has gone by and there's no time left actually to use what you've bought!

There is a chain of these type of shops here actually called 'The Warehouse' - "The Warehouse, The Warehouse, where everyone gets a bargain!!" They have sprung up everwhere, even in our little local town, 21 kms away and are all painted the same bright red. They are huge!
