Sue, who posts as Catnip sent me this picture the other day and has kindly given me permission to post it here. (Sue will have to confirm which cat is which as I'm not confident enough.) So the current record stands at 4. Can anyone beat this? Ann (on behalf of Catnip)

What a lovely photo of happy, well-behaving cats!
But, with 12, it depends on how you define "lap." If I sit on the bed, which the cats prefer, I often have Higgins and Keiki on my shoulders, and sometimes Buster behind my head. Then at least one cat stretches down my thighs and another stretches down my shins. Add to that at least one on my stomach, Julius by my side, under my arm, with his head on my shoulder (the reason, I think, I am having trouble moving my left arm.) The rest tuck themselves as close to me as possible along the sides. Of course, if I dare move, it causes a major upheaval and shuffle of cats. Also, with summer coming, they'll just stretch on the bed with their paws touching me and only two or so actually holding me down. 12 cats are heavy--especially when they're asleep--but they do help me save on the heating bill!

Would also agree that it depends on how you define lap, or whether the number of cats on anywhere on the body counts. Somewhere, though the gods know where, there is a photo of me, looking decidedly fat, so it might give you a hint as to mylack of drive to find it) with freyja on my lap, Silk in my arms and Shonie on my head, (well she was only a kitten) It don't beat 4 full grown ones at once though, although with Silk weighing in at 18lbs I think I might count him for two??
