How do cats always know when there is a treat waiting for them?
I bought a little pack of prawns today, when I was shopping, as a Sunday treat for the cats. When I got home, I unpacked the shopping and surrepticiously put the prawns in the fridge. The cats were goodness knows where and didn't see this little activity.
An hour or so later, I'm harrassed by an extra affectionate and insistant Liffey. He was on and off my lap, giving me enthusaistic head butts and 'treading'. He wouldn't settle down, and purred and chirruped so I couldn't ignore him. The minute I stood up he raced out to the kitchen and sat by the fridge.
I swear he knew those prawns were in there. He had to share them with his brother and sister. They all made 'short work' of them, slid off silently and went to sleep and have ignored me ever since.

I wonder about this too. A while ago I was having a session in the kitchen. The boys were upstairs having their extended afternoon nap. I made the fresh tomato soup and there was no sign of either of them. I then chopped mushrooms and red peppers and made a white sauce, still no cats. I opened the fridge door and removed the cold chopped roast chicken and within seconds, the pair of them were at my feet shouting at me!
