What are your cat's favourite toys? Catnip mice are very popular here, although Ping Pong balls make for a lot of fun too. However, my cats seem to enjoy toys that are not actually intended for cat play...my slippers, a newspaper that I havn't had the chance to read yet, a paper bag, my watch when it's left on the table, toilet paper, potato peelings (yes...honestly..), and rugs. What do your cats love to get their paws and claws on?

Spock's favourite toy is a catnip mouse made by Lisa at the Cat Register and Rescue in Falkirk. It lost its tail a long time ago and the last time I saw it, was losing it's innards at an alarming rate too. He carries it around in his mouth and has even been known to bring it upstairs to bed at night. He "kills" it first, usually very noisily and usually just around the time I'm dropping off into sleep. All his other toys have been completely ignored since Lisa's mouse arrived.
Dracs doesn't seem to be interested in toys. His entire life revolves around two occupations, eating and being cuddled!

Maria, Everything is a toy to a cat! My kitten Tia is having a whale of a time trying to eat the tassle off my winter boots! She also discovered a cottonwool ball which she carries around in her mouth! The favourite toys for the older ones are spiders made from pipe cleaners and wool. The object seems to be biting off the legs and then unravelling the middle! ;D

Hi everybody ! I'm Meia from Brazil and own two humans, a dog and a parrot. I'm a pretty siamese and as I'm very playful I have many favorite toys and sports: scratching books - just to make them more exciting, since one will always have to guess what was on that missing page... finding out what is hiden on the very botton of the waste bin ( as all cats I love to go to the bottom of things), curtain climbing and many more. In case you are interested in learning more about my favorite pastimes you can do so at www.geocities.com/Heartland/Meadows/8811purrrss for now Meia

Hi, I am Gaby, human mom to Lucy and Rufus here in NYC. We don't have any favourite toys at the moment. The only toys my cats like seem to be ALIVE...Rufus is a great fan of any waterbug (aka Nuked Roaches) that make an appearance in our apartment and flies are also a favourite. We don't many of either - thank goodness. As I said to Ann before, short of letting 10 real mice loose in the apartment, I am at a loss in terms of toys...any ideas? Gaby

Hello - i enjoyed reading about all of the funny things your cats do. Liffey found a new 'toy' this evening - a half-full tube of Smarties on the coffee table. He carried it around in his mouth and shook it about a bit, making a very satisfying rattle. I still havn't got my Smarties back!! Gaby - have you tried big paper bags? They love to get inside those a rip them apart. Maria

My cat Sally's favourite toy is one she stole when she was a kitten. How she got into somebody's bathroom and acquired a bright yellow plastic duck is beyond me. I was rather amazed when she came through the catflap with it hanging out of her mouth. Despite the fact that she's now 11, no other toy has ever replaced this duck in her affection. It's now chewed to bits, smells a little, but still the highlight of her life.

I think a small catnip mouse has to be our all time favourite cat toy. Second is the blue plastic ring we get thrown when mum opens a milk container - this is a real treasure - the first to catch it usually runs about with it for ages, then hides it or chews it up (this is fun because it usually comes back up quite quickly!) TT (Tealeaf Tom) ;D ;D

The Dorset Delinquents favour lengths of string or an old cord from a pair of jogging pants, (with or without a twist of rustly paper attached), catnip mice, (providing it's good, strong catnip!), and Jacob's favourite is one of those Cat Ticklers you can get which look like mini feather dusters! Huge paper or plastic bags filled with scrunched up newspaper to hide in are also fun.
Outside in the garden in summer they love it if I cut a frond off the bamboo plant and wave it around - it makes a noise as it cuts through the air and they leap at it and gets lots of exercise! (Not that you'd think they get ANY exercise at all, when you see their fat bellies!). Best of all they like to ambush the frogs when they leave the pond but we do try to discourage that, of course!

Hi! We are so excited about the message board! Good idea Spock and Dracs. We are Iggy and Bowie, two male Devon Rex cats. Our favorite toy is something called a "cat dancer". It is a piece of wire with little pieces of cardboard on the end. We freak out anytime Mommy brings it out for us. We love to play with in on the bed and dive into the covers trying to catch it! On our website we have a page where we review a bunch of our favorite toys. We think you might like it: IggyAndBowie.com/toys.html

Bailey looks happy there....what a sweetie! Looks a little like the ball-in-the-shoe game! A ball in an empty tissue box is just as much fun too.

Chestnutgrovecats, Welcome to the Message Board! You can't post pictures direct from your hard drive I'm afraid. The pictures need to be in an online Folder like the ones you use for your website. Alternatively you can go to a site like www.webphotos.com. They will let you load pictures into an "album" from your hard drive. You can then post them here using their webphotos address. Ann

Well I couldn't resist this topic, with 5 cats and 3 dogs we have lots of toys around, mostly on the floor! The dogs have their toy box and the cats use one of their carry cases for toys! <br> Harley loves those little mice with rawhide tails ,( which Finnagan eats as soon as he gets the mouse.) Harley will carry his around and growl at anyone that comes near. Their mother MaggieMay likes pens etc. She will get on the desk, table, anywhere there is something to roll on the floor, once there she loses interest. Muffin, who will be 13 next month loves running after string and of course catnip. Misty likes the string game too. She get rowdy when she gets catnip. <br>
