As a lot of members already know from a thread on the General Board, one of P.A.W.S. fundraisers is the sale of knitted Easter chicks with a Cadbury's Creme Egg inside them.
Last I heard, they had advance orders for 400. Any update on that Graham? (I'm still knitting by the way.)

More about P.A.W.S. on the General Board thread 'Introducing P.A.W.S.' , Oops, looks like it's one we missed when we were doing the transfers. I'll hunt it out later today and move it over to this Board where it now belongs.

Just a few over the 400 now, but some of them took a brief holiday yesterday to build a snowchick with their mummy and daddy Mine went in for a bit of ice skating.

Aren't people kind!
One of the stalls at the needlework/craft fair I was at this afternoon had some chenille type yarn that looked as though it would make up like double knit. There was some lemon/yellow there and it was only £1 for a large ball, so I thought I'd get one and see what chicks would look like made from it. As I was getting my purse out, the lady serving me asked what I planned to use the yarn for. I explained that it was for chicks for a fundraiser for a small animal charity and, before I knew it, she'd dived into a sack, and pulled out more. I now have 4 large balls of the yarn and no money changed hands.
If the lady in question reads this, and I did leave the website url with her,
A Big Thank You

I'm shifting this temporarily to the General Board as I think it's getting missed on the Charity one. I'll shunt it back over later.

Hi Ann! - The chenille should knit up into lovely, cuddly chicks, and just the right colour too. What a kind lady that was who served you - happy knitting!

Pretty slick chicks, cavortin in the snow and ice skating in style on that decorative birdbath! And isn't it nice to know that there still are caring and generous people in the world.

LOL! ;D
How many odd looks did you get from your neighbors while you were doing the chick photo shoot?
Ann, is there a pattern you work from? These would be fun to knit for Siamese Rescue and as cat toys.

All those little chickies look frozen - they're turning all sorts of different colors and they've all lost their feathers! Can't you see the "goosebumps"? ;D
Polo: "Do little chicks have as much meat on the bone as full-grown chickens?"
Pepsi: "Hmmm...I think so, but they don't have bones."
Pippa: "We'll take three, please" (drool, slobber)

Aww, those are seriously cute. And made of warm enough materials to enjoy the snow Talking of which, how come you've been getting so much snow?? I shall sit in a corner and sulk, I wanted lots of snow for my kitties But back to the chicks, you've got great talent there; such a small "canvas", such a lot of expression! Cheers Carolyn

LOL! ;D How many odd looks did you get from your neighbors while you were doing the chick photo shoot? None. They know me well and nothing I do surprises them any longer. Also, some of them are just as daft as me. One winter before my back garden was "made over", a neighbour and I used to enjoy watching the sparrows eating the strings of nuts I used to hang from a schumach tree I had then. A couple of the sparrows, one male, one female, had distinctive white feathers and came to be known as Hector and Daisy. That Christmas morning, I came downstairs, looked out of the window and there were two small stockings hanging off my washing line. One was marked Hector, the other Daisy. See what I mean? I did actually post the pattern for the knitted chicks on SICC after several members requested it when the last thread about them was current. I'll PM it to you.

Seriously sweet chicks! Love the snowman, and the ice skating chicks! (I can imagine Ann's and Graham's respective neighbours peering out their window: "...what on earth...?"
