;D Don't know about other readers, but I like to snack while I'm surfin', and tonight I just happen to be dipping into a bag of Bassett's Liquorice Allsorts, and it got me thinking - what are other readers' all time favourite sweeties? What sweets do you recall from your childhood? What's more, do your feline friends enjoy sharing your sweets?!
I have always loved Maltesers, and Cadbury's Dairy Milk chocolate. From my childhood I remember buying Flying Saucers made of rice paper, quarters of Sherbert Pips which were ideal to pop into one's mouth during lessons as they were so tiny nobody would know you were sucking on one, and yellow lemonade powder which we used to suck from our fingers and then show everyone our 'nicotine' stained digits! Strangely, we also used to buy tiny, black 'Imps' which came in a small metal tin - and phew! were they [glow=red,2,300]HOT![/glow]
And as for the cats - well, a couple of mine enjoy pink and white Pascall's Marshmallows! It's probably not a thing to encourage as they can't do much for their teeth, but it is quite funny to watch them trying to eat them........

Another nostalgia trip - great!
How about shrimps, banana split toffee, black jacks, fruit salad, liquorice root, "cigarettes" and sherbet fountains?
I remember Imps, you can still buy them, but they were called Negroids the last time I saw them. Definitely the same thing though.

Sweeties...!!!! Yummy.
I don't really know where to start! I still can't keep off the Dolly Mixtures, and I love 'Allsorts' too, especially the pink and blue pastilles. I also love Jelly Babies, aniseed tablets and fudge. All good, old fashioned treats.
Ann's mention of Black Jacks and Fruit Salad made me feel really nostlagic. The factory that made them was in my home town, and my walk to school was always accompanied by the smell of Fruit Salad etc as it wafted our way.
Turkish Delight (the powdered kind, not so much the chocolate bar) and Soft Nougat were always, and still are, good favourites. I make my own fudge these days, but only when I have guests. Otherwise I'd eat the whole batch.

sadly, i'll eat anything with sugar. in our lovely little tourist town there is the most wonderful candy shop. many english candies are sold there. the problem however, is me. i can not make a decision. the shop couldn't be more than 20 feet in length; with an entire wall of candy. there are so many. and on the other side... many flavours of ice cream!! i 'tense' up just walking past. of couse many kinds of chocolate as well. there are also 3 other chocolate shops in town. now, if i only had some money i could put some 'real' weight on!!
lesley oops to answer the question i have an addiction to sunflower seeds - at the computer it is a little messy - but the kids leave them alone. oh, my son is 2 and a half - never had candy - how long do you think i can keep him away?

Oh yes, Ann and Maria! I'd forgotten about all those sweeties you both mentioned....yummy! (Actually I had some dolly mixtures just the other week!)
And then of course there were Love Hearts, Palma Violets, Horlicks tablets, Victory V's, pear drops. and what were those chocolate bars.......something like Five Boys - the chocolate was imprinted with boys' faces I think? I'm sure I used to get it out of a machine? And then there was this horrible red stuff, in long strands, that we used to call 'Fireman's Hose'! Never liked that very much.......
Mmmmmmm! Home made fudge - you can't beat it!

Well you can still get Parma Violets, I often have a pck in the car as an alterantive breath freshener. (handy if your a smoker like me) Also keep a pack or two of fruit pastilles as I have yet to find anything that can give the 'Sugar rush' that they can (very handy if you are a bit tired on a long drive)
As for faves: Also like turkish delight (powdered or the choccie bar) and marshmallows (but is best in hot chocolate) Only chocolate I like is Plain and as bitter as possible, saying that I adore Green and Blacks (organic plain chocolate.... YUM!!!!)
Memory wise it has to be Spangles especialy the Old english flavour ones.

Yum, all this talk about sweets makes me even more hungry as I wait for tea to cook! Cadbury's chocolate, giant jaffas, liquorice allsorts, irish moss jubes, in fact any sort of jubes - I would love a bag full of any of these right now!
