I missed the forecast last night, so I got a bit of a shock when I woke up this morning! It's the most snow I've seen here at the coast for many years. The blackbirds were desperate for food, so making sure they could spot the raisins was the first priority. This was what the back garden looked like as a whole. I had to go to the local shops, so I donned the wellies, wrapped up warmly and set off in a passing snow shower. It had stopped by the time I reached the green by the shops. The greengrocer's shop had a display that was a bit different from the usual fruit and veg. I'm told they were done by the owner's two grandchildren. I met a neighbour at the shops and we walked back together. This is a shot she took of me. The downside of this weather is that, the dinner a friend and I were planning at a local pub yesterday evening was cancelled. Jen's visit this evening has also been cancelled and tomorrows visit to a big needlework and craft sale at Newcastle Arena with another friend is now doubtful.

Nice pics. I love the grocer's window display. Bedlington Station (hub of the universe) looks much the same, but it's all wet stuff now.

It's certainly shrinking here. We've still been getting snow showers though.

Oh what wonderful photos of the snow! I believe all who have had experience with snow storms have a love/hate relationship with them. Snowstorms can disrupt your daily routine, play havoc with traffic and canceled special events you were looking forward to attending. On the bright side, the falling snow is so peaceful and it gives the countryside such a magical appearance. It's also nice to take walks in the falling snow, curl up by the fireplace with a mug of hot chocolate in one hand and a favorite book in the other.

Neatly put Bobbie and absolutely right.
Helen and I did get to the needlework/craft fair today, so I did manage to salvage something from the weekend. (Check the P.A.W.S. thread about the chicks to read about an especially nice thing that happened there.)

Great to see some REAL snow, Ann! All we ever get where I live is a light sprinkle! Your garden looks beautiful clothed in white, and it looks like the birds were only too glad of the raisins! Bobby - what a wonderful picture your words conjured up! Hot chocolate is just the thing to warm you up on a freezing cold day!

Snow looks wonderful... from the window looking out. No snow here, but I don't think I'd walk to the shops - I'd have gone in the car (giggle) Linda

I've been bumped twice in the carpark for our local shops and both times the roads were perfectly dry. There are too many poor drivers on this estate to risk driving there when there's a lot of ice and snow about. Luckily I didn't need any heavy shopping.

Whenever I go out shopping I seem to come home with half a million cans of cat food. I'd hate to walk anywhere! (Even if I could) Malcolm wanted to go somewhere to see the snow this weekend. I think that's a no-no at present. Too cold, too foggy, too dark. If I want to see snow I'll just come and look at your pictures. (The man's mad!) Linda
