Could the last line have something to do with "adore" (a door)?

Could the last line have something to do with "adore" (a door)? I'm not sure. I'm stuck now. I've been working on, "after you", "ladies first" "goodbye", and "farewell". I like "You say farewell" the best, but have no idea if it's correct. It would help if we could work out line 4. I have a feeling it's probably the Victorian equivalent of "Give us a break oh we implore"! (It even scans!)

Sorry -- I've been otherwise occupied the past couple of days. Could that be a "patient" in line four? (I'm not sure how that fits, but .....)

Something about having patience would certainly fit the context.
Is this a breakthrough?!!

Is everyone ready to give up on this one now? If yes, I'll post the solution.
Do you want me to scan in another one or have you had enough now?

For goodness sake Ann put us all out of our misery! I have been trying although not coming up with much in the way of suggestions.

Is everyone ready to give up on this one now? If yes, I'll post the solution. Do you want me to scan in another one or have you had enough now? I have to admit, I liked the first one better than this one. Of course, it was already half done by the time I got to it .....

I don't think we'll get any further with this one, but I'm game for another if anyone else is.

Here's the solution:
Our Puzzled Girls
Dear puzzled girls, who bravely pore O'er all our hieroglyphic store And never vote it all a bore,
Say, patient friends, we do implore, Are not the brain and temper sore, Would you not like to have no more?
But in by thousands papers pour, Much more than ever heretofore, Solutions good and bad galore!
So then, dear puzzled girls, who pore, How may we cange our plans afore: You say, politely, "Pray give o'er?".
According to the examiner's report, there were 4 perfect solutions.
I'll scan in another one tomorrow.
