We went on holiday not long ago to a little village called Bali in Crete, Greece. It is a small quite town and is absolutly beautiful. The weather was hot - 35oC and was getting hotter as we left. This is the view from our balcony. The appartments were fantastic and even had a sea view. There is a small harbour with some tavernas and local supermarkets around it. You could walk from one end of the town to the next in around 30 minutes (more like an hour in the heat! You had to stop for a cool drink every 5 minutes!) There are 4 or 5 small beaches in the village but the one closest to our appartment was the nicest. There were 6 tavernas all around it, and we tried all of them! The food was fantastic and very cheep. I did not have a bad meal the whole time i was there. And of course no holiday would be complete without seeing a few cats - and there were plenty of them. The morning we arrived, we saw a chocolate point! Every taverna we were in had a different colony of cats who were fed by the tourists! The silver tabby below was feral and heavily pregnant. We can only assume the ginger male is the father! They were kissing under an apricot tree! Some of the cats were feral but a lot of them were friendly, until you gave them food. once they were fed they would move onto the next tourist that would feed them!! We had a fantastic time. Beautiful part of the world.

Sounds like you had a wonderful time and those pictures are fabulous. What a clear blue sky on every single shot. Did you do any sightseeing, or did you prefer just to chill out locally?
I love the markings on the ginger cat.
The big question is, how did Anthony react when you got home? Did he sulk and give you all the cold shoulder, or did you get a warm welcome?

Oh I love Crete!! (We went there last summer!)Beautiful pictures, and what a fantastic view from your apartment!
I can totally identify with your point about stopping at a taverna every five minutes for a cold drink. It just has to be done. Don't you just love the way they 'freeze' the glasses so the drink is really cold? We also met many Cretan cats and our apartments had a resident colony of ferals, but they were the most sussed and friendly ferals we ever met. When we opened the door to the apartments, they headed straight for the kitchen area!

Our cats were surprisingly welcoming when we got back. We had been traveling all night so it was a quick hello and then to bed but they were fine. It is princess Angelica that is the one that sulks but she let me clap her when i got home. She must have been in a good mood. The cats in those photos were feral. they lived not to far from our appartment so we saw them most days. There were a lot of pregnant cats but we only saw two kittens with a human. The cats at the tavernas were funny. they were so friendly then when you gave them food, they would eat your hand if you gave them a chance! The amazing thing about the cats is that they would never force themself onto people who didnt show them attention. They would just move onto someone who would feed them. The sky was alway that blue. There was one day of a few clouds, but they still looks amazing. I would definatly go back to Crete.

The pictures of the mountains and the sea are stunning! I think the clouds add to the drama of the scenery. Maria
