Hi everybody it sure is good to be home! I have been home for a week now and have just got about everything sorted out. I had a ton of mail that I had to go through and all sorts of niggling things to tend to…Finally I have time to sit down and post some photos of part of my trip…
View from the balcony…picture, postcard perfect!
We went to this wonderful restaurant near the California Light House;” The lighthouse was named after a ship called the Californian, which has the distinction of having been in the proximity of, and having received the distress signal from the, Titanic, as she went down in the icy waters in 1912.
The Californian’s radio operator was off-duty and asleep at the time of the disaster and this small piece of bad karma perhaps sealed the Californian’s fate. She went down in rough seas off the Aruba coast a few years after the Titanic sank.”
Alto Vista Chapel
”The chapel was built in 1952 on the site of the original, and first, Catholic Church built in Aruba in 1750 by a Spanish missionary, Domingo Antonio Silvestre. The bright yellow chapel is reached by a winding road lined with white crosses marking the stations of the cross. It is a special place for peace and contemplation, surrounded by the Aruban countryside.”
Another bright, incredible day in Aruba and we plotted our course for the day, sitting on the balcony overlooking the dazzling Caribbean, partaking of delicious, toasted raisin with almond paste bread and coffee.
Just some random scenes of the beach that I wanted to share with y’all…The one below of the sunset is one of my all time favorite…
Saturday morning we headed for the car and went on an excursion to the other side of the island which is like night and day. It is amazing to me that there is such a stark difference between the two sides… Each beautiful in its own right…this was another wonderful day of experiencing things I had never before seen…From wild donkeys, to natural bridges of rock surrounded by the azure, green waters of the Caribbean. I call it a walk on the wild side…
A small natural bridge carved by nature out of the rock by the sea…
The stacking of stones in remembrance of loved ones
You will find these all over the landscape.
Wild Donkeys on the stark landscape.
Typical tourists on their way to shop to they drop!
Needless to say I had a great time and
This adventure will always be right up there in my walk down memory lane
