There was a photo article in the Mail yesterday about how flowers are blooming out of season. All the pictures seemed to be from the south and south west of the country however. So, just to redress the balance, when I was taking pictures of Dracs's chrysanthemum earlier today, I also took a picture of my fuchsias, which are still going strong, despite the fact that it's December and I live in the frozen north! Anyone else got any pictures of their out of season blooms?

Hi Ann,
What we have flowering here is the Winter Flowering Jasmin (yellow flowers) and one of the summer ones, the yellow one is not normally in flower until February. The lavenders are still at it and so is the Red Chiliie Pepper. Next door still has bizzy lizzies going crazy, and her cyclamen is still going well (mine have finished for now)
I hope this doesn't carry on too long or our Magnolia will be off and we will loose all the flowers before spring.

Up here in Alnwick *approx 35 miles further north than Ann* I'm amazed at what IS still flowering! I had to deliver a couple of newspapers today that the delivery boy had missed out and I always enjoy these little jaunts as it gives me the chance to get out for some fresh air and have a look at folks' gardens as I pass ;D There were loads of fuchsias still flowering as well as Rudbeckia, roses, clematis, pansies, cyclamen and, in one garden, a single rather bedraggled-looking Kniphofia ( red-hot poker) What is happening to our weather? I can remember, even just twenty years ago, when all the flowers were gone by early October as it got frosty at the very latest!!! Now things seem to flower all year round!

We have had bees in the garden almost all winter and the daffodils came out in February. Blossom is already in the orchards and I've seen several ants (usually a summer only curse) marching around my house. It seems we are having an early Spring. The cats have spring fever, which means waking me up at dawn for games and manic dashes around the house chasing imaginary beasties. Maria

We've had an incredibly mild winter Snow has only fallen on two days and on both those days it had melted by lunchtime Today I saw a Lavatera bush with two pink flowers on it and saw my first Bumble Bee of the year. The climate has gone all cockeyed!!!
