A friend is staying with me at the moment and today we went for a walk down the footpath opposite my house. I took my camera with me and had an interesting time playing with some of the settings on it. When we got to the farm that breeds horses, Mums and offspring were all in the field nearest to the path. I love this shot of 2 babies washing each other. This is Mum and son I used the optical zoom to get this baby. And macro mode for a close up of one of the Mums We walked as far as the dene, which is very pretty. On the way back I decided to put the supermacro mode through its paces. Brilliant pictures, Ann! I need to try my camera out properly instead of just pointing and hoping, but I don't think I'll do as well as you! Lesley T x

It was more by luck than skill! I couldn't believe how well the one of the wasp came out. Even full sized the wasp is still sharp. Plus of course the good thing about a digital camera is that you can take loads of pics in the hope that 2 or 3 will work!

What sharp pictures Lesley, I think they're excellent. My pics are flukes. I take loads and the law of averages says that one or two will work! It also helps that when you use super macro mode, it inevitably blurs the more distant background which makes the whole thing look more artistic!

It seems to be a particular feature of Canon cameras - mine's a Powershot A430
