I've had a friend staying for the past few days and on Wednesday we took a trip up to Warkworth to have a stroll along the riverside and feed the ducks. I wasn't expecting to see any babies so late in the summer, but one Mum had obviously waited to have her brood as, much to our delight, she and her offspring came paddling over as fast as their legs could carry them when they saw we had food. I think this is a random male in the pic rather than Mum, but it does give a good perspective on their size. One of the swans was also happy to get close up and friendly. A bit too close for comfort once or twice! This was a youngster, more or less fully grown, but without the adult plumage.
