My latest gardening project.

Since we are staying in Alnwick for the time being I have decided to do something with my pots outside the front door as I've been a Bad Gardener and let them get all neglected and unloved over the winter
Yesterday I treated myself to a Dicentra spectabilis and an Aquilegia hybrid (red & white flower apparently but as aquilegia are rather promiscuous I could get ANY colour mix!) and four Primula denticulata 'Ruby' from Alnwick Market in the Town Square. The dicentra and Aquilegia are perennials which come up every year and I LOVE them to bits and always have them in my garden wherever I live. The Primula I just loved the look of

SO....here's a pic of my embarrassingly untidy pots - all overgrown with last year's dead plants and a yucca that I put outside for the summer and forgot to bring back in!




Just ten minutes later after I'd RUTHLESSLY pulled everything out and filled them all with lovely fresh compost and swept up around them




Really annoyed with this pic! The light was going as I finished planting them up so I quickly took a shot with the flash on but I think I must have shook the camera slightly as it's a tad blurred! I'll take a better pic in the morning.



I gave them a good watering once I'd finished planting to settle them in but I'm pleased to see that, just half an hour ago when I was putting out the bin for tomorrow's collection, that it has started to rain. That'll do my plants the world of good!

What a difference! Even blurred you can see how colourful it looks. I love primula, they're such a splash of colour this time of year. I have quite a few front and back, which have been divided several times over the years. One of my neighbour's has a good display too, courtesy of my last session dividing them.
