If this is the Coffee Shop & Bistro, do you not post recipes on here too? Anyone tried Anzak biscuits.Oh, they are so easy to make and so chewy and yummy. Would anyone like the recipe? Or is this a virtual shop that you eat virtual cakes. I had a coffee morning last Friday. Invited some of the neighbours. One couple brought their German Shephard. I had no idea that Stella the cat would turn up in the middle of things. She took one look at him and decided she didn't like him. So I picked her up for safety. Big mistake. One torn to shreds cream top and scratched midriff and arm later, she ran to the bottom of the garden being chased by the G.S. dog. She ran straight up a coconut tree and there she stayed for some time. I thought she would surely drop into his jaws. She must have some strength in those claws. OH was furious that I had allowed the couple to bring their dog. Poor Stella, she got tuna for her lunch and chicken for her tea to make up for it and lots of cuddles of course. The cakes went down well though and they have all asked if we can make the coffee mornings a regular thing. Strange how it was the men that ate the most cake!!!!! What's your favourite cake/biscuit recipe?

Yes, recipes are very welcome on this Board, it's just a while since anyone's posted one.
For me, a sponge is hard to beat, but I've just uncovered a recipe for rich pastry that I was given in a Domestic Science class at school, which is delicious. My Mum snaffled it and I could never find it again. The other day, I was browsing through her old handwritten recipe book and discovered that she'd completely ignored the chapter headings. There under "Meat, Game and Poultry" was the recipe. Of course I tried it immediately and it was just as tasty as I remembered.
Poor Stella! Course, it could have been worse, she could have reacted like Sammy, in which case you'd still have had the torn to shreds top, scratched midriff and arm, but also a very battered German Shepherd!
(For those who don't know, Sammy was the world's most fearless black and white cat, with more than a touch of Siamese in him, who lived with Julie for many years.)
