I've discovered I can change the titles that appear under the posters names. At the moment, apart from the Administrators, everyone is a "New Member". The default setting is:
New Member (0 - 49 posts) Junior Poster (50 - 99 posts) Full Poster (100 - 249 posts) Senior Poster (250 - 499 posts) God (over 500 posts)
I'm sure if we put our heads together, we could all come up with something better! I wondered about using famous cat names, Sylvester, Garfield, Tom etc with Top Cat for over 500 posts. Any other suggestions?

I like the idea of using cat's names. You could go from the more well-known (like, as you say, Tom,Tiger, Fluffy) to the grander ones. I've known cats with names like Aristotle, Hobbes, Galileo, Plato etc and as they are the names of the great philosophers, they could maybe be the top end of the scale. It's an idea anyway.

I've only just found this - what did you do about it in the end? The problem with using cats' names is that it's hard to infer that Garfield has more experience and status than the Pink Panther, or the other way around. I hope you came up with something, though, as I like 'Junior Poster' and 'Senior Poster' even less. If I saw those I would think I was talking to a 12 year-old and a 100-year old You get real titles in GCCF shows: Pre-Champion, Champion, Grand Champion, UK Grand Champion, and Supreme UK Grand Champion. Might be misleading though, and their use here would be frowned on by the GCCF, so I guess you'll have to come up with titles of your own anyway. Hmmmmmm - not so easy, is it?

If names don't work, how about the color points? Lilac for 1-50; chocolate for 51-100 (because they're lighter points); flame for 101-150; lynx for 151-200; seal for 201 to 250; and blue for lots and lots of posts.

Thanks for the suggestions. It's not easy as I don't want to appear to be copying ideas from other Boards. (I'm afraid a very big one already uses the colourpoints Sharon.)
I didn't much like the default titles either, so I changed them some time ago and we now have Littermates, Territory Seekers and Territorial Rulers posting messages. Beyond them are Grand Territorial Rulers and Supreme Territorial Rulers so Xinzerella and I weren't a million miles apart in our lines of thought.
I'm still open to ideas if anyone can come up with something better though.

Since there are so many Doreen Tovey fans, how about naming the levels after her cats:
Rama, the newest sealpoint boy Tani, the bluepoint girl Saphra, sealpoint Shantung Saska Shebalu Seely Sheba Solomon Sugieh, who started it all
And, of course, Blondin, the squirrel, and Annabel, the donkey.
I'm not sure how you'd break it down, but it's a thought, Tutsmom (with Keiki's help)
