otherwise known as 'The Tortoishell Moo', if you now go to my posting "All Welcome Kiki, please" you'll see that Kiki has managed to bribe Ann to sneaking her picture in... where it SHOULD be... where I'd failed to manage to insert it. Now, I ask you, this is just encouraging my feline friend's Diva behaviour, isn't it? Velcro cat because of her Xmas venison behaviour, and if she feels the slightest 'chill' at night she has to attach herself to me (preferably when I'm horizontal). She's always let us know since she arrived that she is NOT willing to be a 'lap cat', what we SHOULD call her is 'a knee percher'. Odd breed that - and not strictly true if I'm sitting with my legs up. Gail xxxxx

Chi, as you know, is a knee percher too ... that is when she decides that you are worthy enough to bestow her presence on to you that is.
I wonder if this is a peculiarity of the re-homed / wandered in cat

That's an interesting thought Cathrin. It could have something to do with how they were socialised, or not, as kittens.

I've always worried how such a healthy, brave, YOUNG (9months) cat walked into my life off of a busy road. I was hoping she just 'got out', and run scared when she couldn't find her way home off of Walthamstow's mean streets. Now you've got me wondering if her previous human companions were unloving as well as careless. Gail

Oh, I didn't mean that her previous owners were necessarily unloving! It's just that kittens who are used to interacting with humans from being very young cope better when they move to a permanent home. That's why Feline Friends are always looking for extra helpers during the kitten season. The regulars already have so much to do that they don't always have as much time as they'd like to play with the kittens and get them used to human company.

My friend Kiki was SO fit, healthy & sleek I just assume that she'd had a very priviledged youth, Ann. But Cathrin has told me about someone she knows who acquired a feline friend; she fed and housed said puss, but did NOT want to touch puss. My ghast is Flabbered about that. Kiki gets lots of touching from us whenever she wants - that's the whole point of having a feline friend, isn't it?

I couldn't imagine having a cat I never touched either!
A friend of mine once described cats and humans as the perfect combination. Cats loved to be stroked and had bodies that humans couldn't resist touching. That summed it up beautifully for me. I suppose there are exceptions to every rule.

When touching, or leaving alone, is concerned.... I live to serve my four-legged friends. Until & unless I have to get them to the vet for their....... whisper it..... boosters :-D
