I thought I'd share some photos of where I am at the moment. Oberaudorf is a village in the German Tirol. It's surrounded by mountains. I went into the village this afternoon and took my camera with me. This is the view from the main road into the village looking north. The mountain on the far left is the Kranzhorn. The road off to the right leads to the station Standing pretty much in the same place, but looking further to the NE. Again, in pretty much the same place, but this time NW Walking into the village and still on the main road, I got a shot of the "Wilder Kaiser. This is the mountain I can see from my kitchen window. I'm in the centre of the village now and looking SW Finally another shot of the Wilder Kaiser, it's to the SE of the village. The end of my street is about 100 yds from here. I stopped off at one of the cafes on the way home and bought a slice of orange gateau, but I don't have a picture of that. It wasn't on the plate long enough to take one!

I feel a little bit as though I've stepped onto the set of "The Sound of Music"!
I'm currently researching electric bikes. I had a test run on one a couple of days ago and they're brilliant! This is a popular area for cycling and it would be good not to have to rely quite so much on the trains when I'm here.

Sounds good....and not so dangerous as over here! Can we have some photos of you running down the hills singing then? xx

Tap dancing on the mountainside would be more my thing, but I don't think there was any of that in the film! (You really don't want to hear me sing - trust me!)

Talk about going from one extreme to the other, I woke up this morning to this!! It had stopped snowing by late morning and most of it here has now gone. The sun finally appeared, briefly, this afternoon and I got this shot of the Wilder Kaiser with low cloud below but a snow covered peak.

Joan (Lindner) is coming out here later this month and she's a really keen photographer. I think she's going to be fascinated by the different combinations of mountains and the way the clouds "hang" around them.

Things change quickly around here! Today has been glorious. I took a walk into Niederndorf, a small village just over the border in Austria. I've never seen anything like the supermarket there. This was part of the route back. And the River Inn was the border between the 2 countries.

Another nice day, so I took a walk to a small local lake. The Wilder Kaiser gets everywhere, that's the mountain in the background of this shot and the one I can also see from my kitchen window.

Well it's 10 degrees south of the frozen north, so ideally I'd like to spend time there in the spring and autumn and try to extend my summer as long as possible. There were a lot of lovely warm sunny days when I was there last October as you can see from the pictures. I've found a Letting Agent in the area who specialises in short term lets to businessmen and I'm hoping they'll be able to find me tenants for the periods I'm not there. (Rosenheim, which is quite a large town with a fair bit of industry is only about 10 miles away.) If all goes according to plan, I'd like it to generate enough income at least to cover the running costs, which aren't high.

I wish! The main problem is that at the moment I don't actually know anyone there, so on a day to day basis, I don't have to speak very much German. I do get more practise when I'm with Angelika and Christine, but they both work and live just over an hour's drive away, so the times when we can meet up are limited. When we do get together we certainly make up for lost time though. Angelika in particular tells a very good tale and we spend a lot of time doubled up with laughter when we're together.
I'm going to look around next trip and see if I can find any interest groups I could join. I'd be quite happy to give any kind of dancing a go and I'm also into various handicrafts, although whether any groups exist, I don't know.
