I'm a regular viewer of a German programme called (in English) "Rent, Buy, Live". In it, estate agents take prospective tenants/buyers around suitable properties. Last week one of the people looking for a new flat to rent was the owner of a Cat Café in Munich. I'd never heard of such a thing, but, according to Wikepedia, they first began in Japan and there are now several scattered around the globe, including one in London. Next time I'm in Munich, I'm definitely going to stop for coffee and cake here. www.cafe-katzentempel.de/fotogalerie.html(Dracs would have been in his absolute element in a café like that, Spock would have hated it.)

Yes - I've heard of these. There was a programme on the London one a year or so back - think it's in Bethnal Green somewhere. I will have to seek it out when the weather gets better! Ah.....just found it - it's Bethnal Green Road, Shoreditch. ladydinahs.com/

That's the one! I think it said on Wikepedia that you have to reserve a table there. Can't wait to hear your report if you do visit.

I looked it up on google maps and they reckon it's a 25 minute walk from the central station at Munich. Not so bad on a fine day. Mind you, the last time I used google maps and they reckoned the place to which I wanted to go was about a 20 minute walk from a station, it turned out to be more like an hour and 20 minutes. It was an absolute scorcher of a day and we thought we'd never get there! (I notice they've now corrected it, they had the destination in completely the wrong place originally!)

I've been there, fellow cat friends, pals, and servants to the divinities!!!! ;-D
Yes you do have to book, but I had a TINY advantage - I was one of the people who was in the Kickstarter (?) fundraiser.
Took another cat lover, and we admired, played with, and ate the food and drank the tea on offer (and it was VERY tasty - but we WERE warned NOT to give in to any begging pusses - they have STRICT diets). There will be a bill, but all the money raised goes to the cafe, and the moggy staff. ;-D

Sounds like fun. And I can just imagine the cats pretending to be half starved waifs in the hopes that gullible diners will feed them!

Did you notice the teamwork in the Vienna cafe, one cat distracting the customers whilst the other was attempting to steal something behind their backs!
Interesting that some of the cafes are also adoption centres.
I'm off to the flat shortly and a trip to the cat cafe in Munich is definitely on the agenda. Watch this space!

I'll do my best. I've been checking the weather forecast for the village and although it's changing for the better the nearer I get, it's not looking too good at the start of my trip. Last week they were threatening me with snow, this morning it had changed to rain, thunder and strong winds. This evening it's going for more normal spring weather.

Would you credit it, a friend and I went into Munich today, tracked down the cat cafe only to find it's closed on a Monday! We knew were in the right place however as there was a large ginger cat curled up fast asleep in the sun in one of the windows!
