I'm worried! Saffi is not eating and I think she has lost quite a lot of weight over the last week. She's not herself and hasn't been purring and asking for tummy rubs. The other two are refusing to eat their usual food - I'm wondering if there has been a slight change in the ingredients as they have all had it happily before, but whereas Mickala and Shammi have devoured other offerings, Saffi hasn't...not even tuna or chicken! We're off for a weight check and depending on that, she will either see the vet here or be referred to the VRCC in Essex...she's been under both for the last 18 months. x Back from weight check....she has lost just over 1kg in 3 weeks.... we have an appointment at the VRCC tomorrow morning... fingers crossed for Saffi xx

Oh dear, they're such a worry. Fingers are crossed for you that all the worrying turns out to be unnecessary.

Hi Lesly, sorry to hear about Saffi, I hope she will feel better soon. I completely understand how you feel right now and hope that her Vet. can figure it out what's going on. Poor Saffi and the two babies too refusing to eat...that will worries me too if I were you.
My girls, lost their weight a lot too, they were very skinny.I think when they were sick, they don't purr anymore. Still very hard for me to talk about my furbabies, I still cry each time I talk about them. I miss them so much.
Hugs and love and crossing my fingers hope everything will be okay.

Have had to leave Saffi at the vet hospital...the only thing showing up in her blood test was a problem with her kidneys, and they are not sure whether that was the cause of the not eating or the result of it, especially as everything was fine in her bloods in Dec. She's having a drip and food tube today / overnight and is booked in for a scan tomorrow when they can sedate her. Missing her already....poor sweetie.x

Oh no, I was hoping for something much simpler than that. Now you have another day of worrying about the scan. Hopefully if everything was fine in December, only a few weeks ago, if they do find anything it will be easily treatable.

I am so sorry about Saffi's health problem, poor baby! How old is she? It's not easy when our cats are sick, very yucky feelings and worrying is just perfectly normal because we love them so much...we always wanted our cats in perfect health and enjoyed their lives. I was thinking about Saffi all night. Sending positive energy, love and fingers crossed hope all goes well.

The Vet has just phoned to say she's settled and is having IV fluids as she was a bit dehydrated....they won't have to put the food tube in as madam has started eating! She's polished off 2 bowls of food since midday, so they are quite pleased with her.
When I asked what it was she was eating, it's exactly the same as what I tried to tempt her with here!!! They are still waiting further results, but at the moment everything they are finding is what they would expect in an older cat (she will be 15 in April) - maybe an indication of early kidney probs, but that could be linked with the steroids she has to take too, so it looks like being a balancing act with her medication. I think they plan to keep her there till Friday. I was just celebrating not having to pay council tax for Feb and March as I'm on 10 x DD...Madam has just cost me more than a year's payments in one go!!! I will go and visit her tomorrow - at least I can do that now I'm not working. Thanks for all the thoughts and support - missing her! x

That's great news!!! Good to hear that Saffi started to eat again! I am so relieved and truly happy for you and Saffi. Still young Madam It would be great idea to keep her there, it would cost you much money but at least you can still hug, kiss and cuddle her everyday and every night. I am sure she would be very happy to see you tomorrow, she would purr like a motor Hugs...

That sounds a lot more promising, fingers crossed the news continues to be good. You must have been very relieved to hear the little madam had worked her way through 2 bowls of food. (They do love to make liars of you don't they?!)
Have you completely retired now, I remember you cut your hours right down, but it sounds like you might be a complete "lady of leisure" these days.

Yes they do! Update on Saffi this morning - She is still on IV fluids but they have cut her steroids and are giving her some antibiotics. Still waiting for blood test results to check pancreas and liver, but she is very stable, and has apparently 'gobbled her food' so they are pleased with her! Driving over to see her later. x

Sounds like she's improving in leaps and bounds. I hope her pancreas and liver tests don't show anything untoward and that she'll soon be back home with you.
