I was at the Spring market in Traunstein yesterday. These are huge one-off affairs, each town and village here has its own Sunday market twice a year in Spring and Autumn. A real mixture of things are for sale. It was a glorious day, sunny and warm, so the town was buzzing. He might not be everyone's cup of tea, but I couldn't resist Froggy the Frosch.   |

Me too. It's amazing what you can recycle when you put your mind to it! I don't know how clear it is in the pics, but as well as his feet being made from forks, Froggy's head is a spoon and his tongue the spoon's handle. The body and eyes are solid metal, so he's actually quite heavy. He's sitting on a shelf in the living room at the moment, but it doesn't show him to best advantage. I want to buy a white shelf to go over the kitchen sink this trip and I think that will be his permanent home.

I'm acquiring quite a menagerie. On previous trips I bought Jemima and Daisy, this time I have Froggy and now Thomas. I found Thomas in a shop in a nearby village. He was being sold off for 99 cents. His new home is my hall, which also doubles as the spare bedroom.  |

He really finishes that part of the room off. The shelves were looking a little bare before his arrival, but I didn't want to buy anything just for the sake of filling them up, so I was delighted to find him and give him a good home.

I love Thomas. I have a earthen ware one in the form of a Siamese cat that is supposed to hang over a doorway but I have yet to put him up. Now I must do so.
Froggy is wonderful. My friend Barbara collects frog items. She would love it.
