I've been playing with my new toy again! I've found a piece of software that converts the massive avi files my new camera produces into tiny mpeg ones. Only problem is, it doubles the speed of the film in the process. Can you let me know if you can view this please. I've tested it out and it only takes a minute or so to download, even with a dial up connection like mine. The original clip takes nearly 7 seconds to run, this only takes 3.5 seconds, so blink and you'll miss it! www.annied22.btinternet.co.uk/sandd/spockemerging.m1v(It worked fine when I previewed it, but doesn't seem to want to play for me now it's saved. Glitsch with the server perhaps???) Ann

Well at least it worked Bobbie! That's something. Thanks for letting me know. You can slow it down by dragging the cursor along yourself rather than clicking the start button. It does lose quite a lot speeded up as you miss the effect of the bedclothes seeming to have a life of their own.

Lesley,
I think I need to try and find some software that converts it at the right speed first - if such software is actually available. I have a clip of my tame blackbird pecking a raisin out of my hand that I'd like to add, but I don't think it would really work very well at double speed!
How's the campaign to get the camera going?

I love the clip! I want the camera now. I'm another with a small collection of antique cameras, including cine cameras; never used them.

Shoot, I keep forgetting to mark the box so that I'll know if someone's added to the conversation. I'll do it here....

ann, definite no to the new camera. the new furnace we need is apparently more important. really! further, i think our digital might have the same features; video clip. now if i could just find out which box holds the manual.

Lesley,
I'll see what I can do with the blackbird. I've tried converting the clip and it's actually not bad, even speeded up, but the blackbird was a bit nervous of the sound the camera was making. I'll see if I can get a better one tomorrow.
Pity about the new furnace!

As a moderator I was a bit worried about just WHAT was emerging from the covers there. That was really good Ann, especially the shake of the head at the end. It deserves an entry in the can film festival (can of whiskas that is)

I loved it - played it over and over and laughed each time. Now I'll have to try it. Jan

:-*Ann, Our lady person tried to show us your clip, but we were far too busy guarding her bed to look properly. She was so impressed with your new toy that she's bought the slightly larger one for herself. It arrived yesterday and she says that one of these days she might be able to figure out how to make it work. Please don't buy too many expensive things or she'll want them all and we'll have to go out to work for our food!
Lady person says the video clip shows the boy's off beautifully and to please do some more. It must be wonderful to be so clever! luv Daisy (& Misty)

How about an entry in the best foreign short (less than 4 seconds) film 'cat'egory. Call it 'chat au lit du matin'. I can see you Ann, in the auditorium packed with journalists discussing the nuances. The cat appearing from under the sheets parallels the emergence of modern society and the shake of the head the despair as mankind despoils his planet. No I'm not taking the p..., honestly!

Topaz,
HOW DID YOU KNOW? You're clearly far more astute than Ann. But then who isn't? She, poor deluded soul, just put it all down to Dracs jumping on the bed, landing on Spock and disturbing him.

What a lovely clip. I watched it a couple of times, then let the cats watch it. It's something that might be useful for Siamese Rescue to consider. (Now if Tabitha would just stop trying to help me type!)
