We all know that cats can sleep in the most disconcerting and improbable looking positions. I thought it might be fun to share some of these. I got this picture of Liffey recently after he had been sleeping in this wierd (and very un-cat-like) pose for ages. He woke up when I took the picture, but he still stayed like this until he was good and ready to move. Odd! Maria

Here's Bailey in a similar pose: He started out like this... about 10 minutes later... and finally... Miles

Lesley - thank you! Liffey certainly is a handsome boy, but I shan't let him see your comments as he's far too big-headed already!! LOL.
Miles - what wonderful Bailey pics! He is growing quickly. I'm glad Liffey isn't the only cat to sleep looking like he has dislocated hips!! Bailey has found a good sunny spot there too, I see!

A few of us were having a neighbourly chat outside yesterday afternoon when I noticed Big Sam, who lives next door but one to me and the boys. I grabbed the camera and got the following. Ann

Ann, Would this be Spock's arch-nemisis, the garden invader?

Miles,
One of the many! The morning I heard the particularly blood curdling warcry and rushed down the garden with my hair full of shampoo, it was Spock and Big Sam who were sitting confronting each other in Paul's garden.
After nearly 2 years of occupation, Spock now has all the local cats, including Big Sam, beaten into submission and terrified of him. Dorrie, Big Sam's owner once told me that she was quite worried about him as he was spending all his time underneath one of her chairs. I thought it best not to mention that I'd seen Spock launch himself off a 4 foot wall straight onto Sam's back earlier that day.

We have a cat, Bingley, who sleeps on his spine, a bit like Big Sam above. The thing is, he lies right behind the door so when you open it, he gets draged along with it! We say that he practices yoga cause he tends to sleep in very funny positions. He is the 'yoga master' in the household and has his followers who he is teaching 'the ways of cat yoga'. Hed be very proud of Baily - he shows good potential!! Lisa

i don't think cleo and coco ever sleep in any position but the 'curled up as tight as possible position'. they can cram their bodies into the smallest spaces. usually under or in something. current favourite; boxes that have been opened but not unpacked. apparently packing paper is very comfortable. who knew.

Lesley,
And the best box of all is the one you discover holds something vital to your well being and that you absolutely must have immediately. No doubt they have a classic line in "injured" looks.

Im sure 'curled up as tight as possible position' is a known cat yoga position. Its one of the fundamental basic positions. Has anyone else came across the art of 'cat yoga'?

<has anyone else came across the art of 'cat yoga'?>
We think Bingley must be a lot younger than us.
Ann has a couple of books about cat yoga. When she first got them, she left them lying around where we could see them. Is she out of her tiny mind? Have you seen the positions we're expected to assume? We're two elderly gentlemen and Spock in particular, has his dignity to consider. He also says that when he extends his claws, it definitely isn't to salute the sun. (Unless Sun happens to be the name of the cat he's bashing up at the time.)
We note the two books are now in her downstairs loo. We think she's got the message.

Lisa,
You really must get that digital camera. I'd love to see Bingley when he's having one of his yoga sessions.
