You've all come to know Bailey so very well...from the time he was 3 weeks old. Ribbons thought it was high time SHE had a post of her own...so here it is....
When she first came to us she was tired, thin and emotionally worn...she'd gone thru her first (and only) litter, her spay, and had been moved twice - once from the breeder (who never allowed her to bond as she was always kept in a kennel) to my Mom's for about a month, and then to us. She was a bit skittish and shellshocked when she got here, and of course had Bailey to contend with, who as you know is a....uuummm..."handful". They integrated and began re-bonding quickly - it only took about 24 hours...I suspected from the first that she recognized him immediately, but I wasn't sure about Bailey recognizing her...it was just a matter of days before it became apparent he did. They are now and always will be inseparable.
In the last few weeks, she has really blossomed...her weight is getting back to where it should be, she has become sooo very affectionate, so curious (THAT'S where Bailey gets it from..!), talkative...we can see a diference in her every day....she has a home now, with beans of her own for the first time....and I think she likes it....
She has that slinky-smooth walk of a young mature lioness..you could swear she could walk across water and not leave a ripple...every step seems as it's cushioned by a microscopic layer of air...
She's the most amazing retriever...she'll play fetch forever with anything she can pick up and carry - schmousies, bizzy balls, a crumpled piece of paper...she'll walk thru the house with a schmousie in her mouth mmirrrowwing and lay it at your feet...
You throw it and she brings it right back...and lays it at your feet again...and if you don't happen to notice "right away", she'll tap at your foot....
We found out when we received her med records from the breeder that she's younger than we thought...she's just now a year old (April 15 - much too young to be having kittens...grrrrr...!!), and still has lots of kitten in her...she loves to play (to the absolute delight of Bailey).....
She's an amazingly accurate timepiece...I always get up at 4:00am every morning (don't have to, I just like to...ok, it's crazy...!)...I noticed after she had been here less that 2 weeks, I didn't have to shut the alarm off anymore...she wakes me, and I'm not sure how - I open my eyes, she's there...I look at the clock and without fail it's 3:56 or 3:57...when daylight savings time started, it took her about 4 days to get right back on track....
She's an amazing girl..and every day with her is just a little brighter....
How did we get sooo lucky to have these 2 to love...?
