Just yesterday Bailey had added another vertical notch to his collar (courtesy of some expert coaching by Ribbons)...he now can jump from the floor to the kitchen counters...it's something he's had the ability to do for some time now, he just never seemed interested...until Ribbons showed him how easy it was...! We tried countless times to discourage them both from doing this, to no avail (Spock and Dracs - you would have been proud...)...we gave up and let them have it, hoping the novelty would soon wear off....
HOWEVER.......
I couldn't find him when I was going to make a pot of coffee this morning...that's unusual because we've always had a ritual with making coffee every morning since he first came here as a tiny kitten....he lays on my arm as I fill the pot, get the coffee and cups out, etc. - I have become quite adept at doing this with only one hand free. He had been in my lap earlier, now he was nowhere to be found....Ribbons and I went on a mini-"where's Waldo/where's Bailey" hunt, checking all the likely places...the quilt behind the door...nope....up in the cat tree.....nope, not there....behind the entertainment center...? nope...the bathroom sink....nope.....the litter box....nope, not there either...we went into the kitchen and I heard a small plaintive mew from above....
Ribbons was looking up at him, and then at me as if to say "I didn't teach him that...!"....
now HOW did you get up there...?? never mind, I don't want to know...! wellll...you're just going to have to wait a minute til I get the camera...then I'll help you down...!
You don't have to tell me...I KNOW what comes next...I'll open one of the cabinets (tomorrow...??) and find a little meezer face staring out at me....!
