Spock's ears are always cold - sometimes they're out and out freezing! They're also clammy. The first time he wandered downstairs with one ear folded back on itself I wondered what on earth he'd done to himself. Now I'm used to it. See the strangely shaped ear on the left? Here's a close up. Now you can see what's happened. Naturally I didn't get a single open eyed shot. That's my boy! Ann

Hi Ann, Great pics. Spock is getting on in years and as you may know a Siamese Points-the extremities darken with age and the body coping less with the cold, hes ears being the extreme of the extemities are feeling the cold more so. Perhaps mummy can knit some earmuffs<VBG>. As for the folding back most big/wide eared cats do that especially after a wash. Jayne

Jayne, That's interesting. I didn't know the points darken with age. Spock is quite a chunky boy with, by Siamese standards, a thick coat. Generally speaking, he feels the heat far more than Dracs. He's always the first one to move away from the fire, or out of the sun, or from under the duvet. Unlike Dracs, or any other Siamese I've encountered (which isn't actually all that many), his ears are quite literally clammy to the touch. I've knitted a few things in my time, but earwarmers for Spock could be quite a challenge. It's a pity the website the boys approached asking for fur earmuffs didn't reply to them! My cuddle often has cold ear tips, but they're never clammy. Although sometimes someone gets overly enthusiastic about licking the others ears--then they're down right soggy. And they often fold back.
I'll ask around the Rescue and see if anyone would be interested in knitting a set of ear warmers. Although I myself do not have such talents, many of our members do. Given how some Siamese gnaw knitted things, come to think of it, maybe I'll ask one of our quilters.

My cats sometimes turn their ears completely 'inside out' when they are washing - either themselves or each other. They stay like that for a while until a vigorous shake of the head gets them back to normal. But I've never seen just the tip like that! What wonderful close-ups of Spock though. Maria

Hi Ann! These pics of Spock are absolutely fantastic! As you know, Rosco's ears are also clammy and almost bare of fur, but although they can be turned inside out, so to speak, I've never seen just the tips turned back like that before, even though I remember you telling me some time ago about it. Amazing! Sue.

Welcome back Lesley - hope the move went well.
You could be right about Spock. Of the two of them, he's the one with by far the strongest need to bond with one special person. Dracs is everyone's friend.
