The boys have me demented at the moment! Normally, they're the easiest cats to feed and will eat anything. About a week ago, they both suddenly decided they were bored with ALL the purpose made "senior" cat food they usually have.
I know there's nothing wrong with the pair of them as a few cat biscuits are still acceptable (to keep body and soul together). In addition, in my efforts to get them to eat, they have also been tucking into roast chicken, cooked mince, freshly cooked turkey pieces and cooked ham!
I'm hoping a short break from their normal diet might do the trick. At 15½, I'd really prefer them to have food that's specially formulated for elderly cats. Whilst Spock could stand to loose a couple of pounds, Dracs doesn't have an ounce of fat on him, so it worries me if he goes more than a day or so without eating. But they don't come much more stubborn than a pair of determined Siamese!

ann, i'm so sorry! those darn siamese can be so difficult sometimes. cleo and coco were switched to a 'weight control' food a year ago. they didn't give me any trouble for that - but they increased their treat requests! i hope you find something suitable to meet with their demands!

I sympathise, Ann!
It's not just Siamese either. My cats will often show a strong preference for a certain brand, so off I trot and buy a load of the stuff. Then of course, they decide they don't like it anymore and could I please go out and get something different?
At the moment, they are 'off' chicken. Off chicken??

Maria,
I'd believe anything of cats! It wouldn't surprise me if they did it just to see what happens next!

There seems to be a bit of a breakthrough. Some sample packets of Hill's I picked up are going down well and a couple of senior pouches a day have started to vanish. That's 2 more than they were touching a few days ago. Meanwhile they don't seem to be any the worse for their varied diet. I took these pictures this afternoon. And, both on the one picture. Note in passing the sleekness of the 2 coats, a sure sign all is well. No wonder everything I wear is covered in fur, that's one of my jackets Spock is using as a mattress. Ann

Ann... You mean you can get clothes without fur on them? Really? I've forgotten what its like to wear black, dark blue or in fact anything that isn't at least speckled with white or light brown fur on it. As for food, I totaly give up on our lot, like Maria, we will find a new brand, they all love it, so next trip down to Macros secures a case ort two only to find that they were only joking and could they have the other brand instead? The breeder we got our Abby's from swore that hers were total dusbins and would eat anything you put in front of them.... I wonder if its too late to get a refund??? The PMT's (Polaris Missile Twins) will eat anything although Felia does prefer her dried food, also if your in the kitchen and not serving it fast enough, she'll thump you (quite hard too)

Ann - those pictures of the boys are wonderful. Pure contentment! They have a very comfy looking bed there. Where do you sleep?
My cats tend to like the look of anything I am eating, as long as it is still on my plate. They like to have a peek, and a sniff and see what it is and maybe have a small sample. When they seem to show a strong likeness (!)for my food I save the leftovers, present them nicely in small dishes and place them on their food mat. Then they sniff at it vaguely, turn their noses up and walk away. *sigh*

Maria,
Teetering on the edge of the bed with about 10% of the duvet most nights. Where else?!

We've noticed that Scargs has a mini crisis at the change of season. A couple of weeks ago when the sun came out she briefly lost her appetite and mooched about listlessly. Cos she MUST have her potassium supplement, this causes great concern. It doesn't help that her daddy's away at work a lot and she sulks. That makes me feel really guilty. At times like this there really aren't any other issues of importance in life are there. N.B They may be missing the sound of falling rain, it's been SUCH a dry spring here in U.K. Our friends in North America are enjoying a heatwave now I believe (92 in N.Y), but they're still having cold and rain in Spain. All very topsy-turvy this year isn't it.
