Oh Happy Birthday Ayeisha!Jayne I totally understand how you feel about loosing Elsa. I was walking home from work yesterday and I couldn't stop thinking about my cats from childhood that died probably 7 years ago now and I thought I was going to cry. I'm not even sure what made me think about them so, other then just plain missing them. That is the scary part about having any pet, but they give us so much unbelievable joy it is worth it in the long run. I know this might sound cheesy but I like to think my Mom is up there with all our little cats keeping each other company on a cloud.

No thats not cheesy but a lovely comforting thought. I like to think Elsas with her beloved Merlin. She litterally died from a broken heart,3 months after her beloved Merlin died from kidney failure. She was devoted and bessoted with him and just gave up the will to live, even though we still had Whiskey(who went on to live untill he was nearly 18 last year). I lost two cats in 3 months which was and still is hard to bear. Jayne

That is terribly sad. Do you know who Jane Goodall is? I just got a book called "40 Years at Gombe" about her years studying the chimpanzees in Africa. Well one little guy Flint was so devoted to his mother Flo that he too died of a broken heart. He just laid cathargic for three weeks crying before he passed. This thread has taken a sad turn. Isn't it amazing to me that some people in this world continue to think that animals don't have feelings? What you have experienced proves they feel love just as deeply as we do, even though we might not always have the means to understand their expression. Animals grieve and love just as much as we humans and perhaps even more so because their love is innocent and pure. We are very lucky to share our lives with them. ;D Feeling sadness for the ones that have passed only makes us more grateful for the ones we have now. That makes me feel good.

Many happy returns Ayeisha!
Each cat is such a little individual with his/her own particular personality. I love Spock and Dracs dearly, but, like you, I still miss Alexander as well as Sin and Chan, our first 2 Siamese. All of them had different characters.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY! im sure youll be spoilt rotton as all cats should be on their special day! It is always sad when you lose a cat. even if you know its coming, its still a big shock. with being in the Cat Register, weve had many cats die in our care - with old age or illness - and its always heartbreaking. not long ago we lost two old dears due to kidney failure. they both went within a week of each other. it was a very sad time, but you can take comfort in the fact that they have had a good life and werent in much pain when they died. its just like loosing a member of the family. they all mean so much
