Now I don't know about you but we spend lots of money buying cat toys. But there are times when I wonder why I bother as they find so many more interesting things to play with. Now take the saga of the wok as an example. My other half insists on buying kitchen appliances that are too damn big! He's bought 2 woks that are gigantic. You could feed a small country with them! Of course they're too big to be practical so they end up in the already over full cupboards. So I insisted on buying a small cheap wok that we could actually use. It came with a plastic insert to protect the bowl. The gang thought this was total heaven! This became a favourite game (pouncing in it and catching things under it) and a favourite sleeping place when they got tired. As you can see.... Cassie taking a rest Solly has to cram himself in! Jake complete with the toy mouse he's been beating to death in it. Aren't cats wonderful! This lasted a whole year before it finally gave up and died. One day I must get another wok just for the insert.

A cardboard box goes down well in this house. www.catsup.co.uk/compdraw/Spock and Dracs in box.jpg[/img] www.catsup.co.uk/compdraw/Spock and Dracs bums.jpg[/img] When the light's better tomorrow, I'll try and remember to take a picture of Spock's favourite catnip mouse which is even more battered than when you saw it the last time. Ours like cardboard boxes too.
Naturally the bengals have to add a twist to this one as we discovered the day we bought our new tv. Not only do they like them to sleep in and play in but they also like to shred them! Imagine our surprise when we got up the following day and found the cardboard box the tv had come in was now 1000 pieces of cardboard scattered over the living room!

What a wonderful set of pictures Cass! And Ann, Spoc and Dracs are so funny with their box! Boxes, paper bags, pens, tissue boxes, the little plastic cases that camera film comes in, shoes, shoelaces, pegs....the cats go for all those things. They quite like the toys I buy as well, like little catnip mice and ping pong balls, but nothing is quite so much fun as a moth or daddy-long-legs flying for it's life around the house. They go ape! They can be sound asleep one second, and up in a flash if a moth silently enters the room. Then, when one of them finally captures and eats the hapless creature, the other two will glare at their sibling in horror for ruining their fun. Maria

As promised, this is the latest state of Spock's favourite catnip mouse. It's getting smaller and more chewed by the day. (See the thread entitled "What's so special about this one?" for earlier pictures of it.) As it was such a nice day today, I took the catnip mouse out into the front patio to photograph it. Spock saw me pick it up and wasn't letting it out of his sight. This next picture was him monitoring proceedings. As soon as I brought the mouse back indoors, he came in too. Ann

Sass, Your Cassie looks sooo much like Ribbons..it's uncanny....! Ribbons is a chocolate lynx point Siamese, but her face markings are so similar to Cassie's...right down the light spot on the end of her nose...I'm still trying to get a good pic of her face, will post one soon... Miles

I'm looking forward to seeing a picture of Ribbons! Cassie reminded us of a siamese as soon as we saw her as a kitten and she still looks very siamese except that she's very round and solid rather than long and lean. She's clearly picked up too much of the siamese gene in her breeding but that's what attracted us to her in the first place.
