I was minding my own business, making a cup of coffee this morning, when I heard a familiar rasping noise. The foil tray on which I had grilled a rainbow trout yesterday evening had been removed from the grill, undoubtedly by Dracs, and had ended up in the darkest corner of the kitchen, under a small table, where Spock was making sure it was completely clean. Note in passing, the sack of cat litter to the right, the plastic bag containing supplies of cat food and the corner of the bin with an empty cat food container in evidence. Why do I feel my house has been taken over?! What do other cats steal? Ann

;D Hi Ann, All i can say is your very lucky if thats the first time either Dracs or Spock have ever stolen anything. Siamese are renowened for theiving and the cleverness of how they do it. Devons are just so greedy when caught they just sit and stare at you with those huge eyes as if butter wouldint melt. Nothings safe in my house, they can all open doors(am waiting for someone that will reverse all my door handles for me),i have a child proof lock on the fridge freezer-for the cats.Have to wedge things against the kitchen food cupboards and drink permantly holding a cup in my hand. Dinner time is a joke-they litterally take the food from your mouth-the only safest place to eat would be shut and bolted in the bathroom listening to the deafining screams and door handle bashing of let me in. Ann, Welllll...at least you have a willing clean-up helper...! (uuummmm...."YOUR" house...?? hhhmmmm....maybe we need to hear confirmation from Spock and Dracs on THAT....lol...?) Let's see...my favorite mechanical pencil....my eraser pencil...my keys...my watch (numerous times...!), coins from my pants pocket (and probably while I was wearing them...!)....and these were just Bailey...now that Ribbons has joined us, there's 2 Siamese that will bear watching....! We'd invest in a safe, but 2 Siamese would have it open within an hour...! Miles

Jayne,
That was just the latest in a long line! Dracs is usually the one for stealing food, Spock is more interested in potential toys. At least neither of them are as bad as the male Siamese we had when I still lived with my parents. He would wander into neighbour's houses and steal from them as well as from his own house. On one occasion he brought home a whole cooked chicken only partially carved. As he and his sister were the only 2 Siamese in the area, my mother continually lived in fear that he would be spotted (he never was) and she'd have irate neighbours banging on her door.

wow, spock, dracs, bailey.... shame shame shame. at least we only steal the baby toys *we have them hidden so well 'she' will never find them. we haven't been allowed any so called 'people food'; with the exception of the daily 'cream of wheat' we are "oh so ungratefully allowed" at breakfast. rainbow trout sounds lovely - perhaps we will inspect the kitchen a little closer (mom says we would have to try getting out of bed a little more than the 2 hours a day we already allow 'them') - yikes, poor grammer in here somewhere, must be lack of sleep. thanks for the thieving suggestions. we will try harder to live up to the siamese name. cleo and coco

Oscar came in one sunday with a joint of pork. He isn't even Siamese! Just read this out to Malcolm. He said that when he lived in his old house and the next door neighbour was baking cakes Zac (our Burmese, now dead) used to go in and steal a cake. Instead of getting annoyed, the neighbour would bake him one of his own! Linda

Well Ming will steal anything! Lighters, pens, paintbrushes (will you're using them for god's sake), combs, anything that's down the waste disposal. I'm always finding used teabags that he's fished out of there. Sometimes he puts things in there too. Once when poor Marion was cat sitting for us she ran the waste disposal to here terrible crunching sounds. It was a teaspoon. She was really concerned that she'd managed to break it and was amazed when we came home and explained that it was Ming who certainly put it in there! We'd forgotten to tell her to check! He's also fond of stealing cherries if you make the mistake of leaving them in a bowl! Peoples handbags are also a favourite. He once stole a tampax from a visitors handbag! I found it half way up the stairs. Luckily she did't see it as I dread to think how I would have explained that one! ;D
