What's happened???

I've lost all the threads! Can't get to any of them. Is anyone else having the same problem - I don't know if it's just me or if they've somehow all been deleted. The entry page is still telling me there are 11 topics and over 40 replies, but I can't see any of them.

I hate computers!!!

PS Just went to the host website and found this on their Support Board:

"Hello everyone,

We still have all of the old posts for server 6.  It will take me about a day to whip up something for you guys to get access to them.  If you lost posts, it is because someone posted a message while the drive was full and thus it erased the file which contains an index of posts for each board.

So what I have to do is make a script that lets you see all of the posts from all boards on one single page, and I will see if I can get it so that you can choose to move which posts to what board.  I can make a list of all posts but can not determine which post belongs to which board without the index file (which would have been erased if someone posted).

Please give me 24 hours on this I will try my best to get it completed asap so you can get your old posts back on your board.

In the mean time, post away, the hard drive has plenty of space on it now.

So as far as I can work out, they had an overloaded server at their end which duly crashed. But, they seem to think they can retrieve everything. Keep your fingers crossed folks!! I might have known I'd pick the Message Board hosts with server problems!!

Hi Ann, hand in there.  We all know, computers are great when all is well and goes well...but the moment things go wrong...

Hope you can read this...Monday is a holiday for us New Yorkers...so more next week.

It gets to Friday, I think: 'Hey tonight I have 5 mins to spare and can register and post a reply at last' I pop over here and here it is: GONE  

I have seen message boards just like this one before, (as in exactly the same format)  but have never known the threads to vanish???

Maybe it was Spock or Dracs, trying to dispose of some evidence against them?

Ann, I think maybe I was the 'jinx' cos I emailed you last night and said how successful the board seemed to be!!
I'm sure it'll be sorted out anyway, and if the posts cannot be retrieved....well, we'll just have to create new ones! No hassle!

Guilty! I was the one posting a thread when the board when down! (sob) It must have been me, cos I was the only one on here at the time! Oh dear!
I shall go and find some ashes, from next door's bin. Afraid I don't have any sackcloth. If I did, I'd have given it to Yvonne to make rugs!

You can put the ashes back in the bin Linda, I was using the Board at the crucial time too! It was a case of "now you see it, now you don't"!!

I have to say, Proboards, the website who host this Message Board have been excellent and I've been very impressed by their support service. They even got everything resolved before their own estimated time.

My only problem is that I'm spending hours online when I should be doing other things because, now I've discovered the support forums, I'm finding there's more and more I can customise. The 5 minutes online to check emails is frequently becoming an hour and five minutes!
