So last Friday night in the dark and all that snow they were setting traps for three cats burned out of their home by an arsonist owner (yes really!). By Sunday they were safely rehomed ...
... then the daughter left the door open on Wednesday - back to square one.

That must have been so frustrating! Were they rehomed far from their original "home"?

At least that's some consolation then. Let's hope the other two are soon "back in the bag" too.

I agree, Ann -- I have everything crossed that we soon hear good news about this.
LOL -- I'm in much the same position here with Cinders...
Good luck, I hope the little ones are caught again soon.

I'm pleased to report that all three cats are now re-harvested and presumably settling down again.
Thanks for the concern.

Good news about the kitties! Our family did trap-spay/neuter release with a colony of feral cats in 2001. They are all healthy and happy and living and playing in our back yard.

We have found that trap/neuter/release really makes a difference. Over the years we have seen many feral cats living out a full lifespan that just wouldn't have happened (too many cats, too few resources, plus limit to tolerance by humans when numbers grow). While taking the really needy into care is a priority, the TNR scheme, not usually seen by most people, is of equal importance to us and probably makes a bigger impact on cat welfare in our area in general. Our ferals will be three years old this summer. We have two calicos, and orange and white cat, and a Snowshoe Siamese. The Snowshoe is so cute. We named her Faber. The cats' names are taken from part of a German counting rhyme: Zwenner, Drenner, Faber, Uncker.
Uncker, the big orange and white boys, loves to play and have wrestling matches with our neighbor's cat. He has become socialized to the point of playing with domestic housecats, but is not socialized toward people.
