We sent Ann off to PDSA's Newcastle PetAid Hospital on Thursday, with a cheque for £1,000. She took a group of our employees with her so's they could have a look around the hospital. We weren't able to go unfortunately, we had urgent appointments with a duvet and a radiator respectively, which we were unable to cancel. Judging by some of the pictures she brought back of operating theatres and xray rooms it turned out to be a wise decision. We'd have hated being mistaken for patients and found ourselves up on an operating table being given a whiff of anaesthetic, and minus a few body parts on our return to consciousness! We did want to see our plaque however. Here it is.
It's in the reception area of the hospital, so that all the clients can see it. It's the lower of the two plaques, on between the two doors to the right.
She took some pictures of the rest of the hospital, but we're saving most of them for the next Ann's Page. Here's one of the feline ward though. We were very reassured when we saw all the blankets on top of the pens. Ann also told us there's special heating in there, so the temperature can be adjusted to make sure it's always just right for the patients.
And this is a picture of the presentation itself.
From left to right they're as follows. Rob, who's PDSA's Trust Manager. Margaret who lives next door to Ann and helps her to make some of the stall items. Nora who also helps behind the scenes. Ann in her Catsup uniform. Marion, the senior veterinary nurse. Jen, also in her Catsup uniform; she and Ann wear it when they run their stalls. Helen who creates the great Cats and Computers cartoons. Ann, known in the books as "Ann from Winlaton", who helps to make cards and gift tags. Paul, PDSA's Area Fundraising Manager.
