Wow! that all looks wonderful, but I remember seeing pictures of snow on the Spanish islands before christmas last year, did you get some? In theory, we, in Northwest Englands Derbyshire hills, should be buried under the white stuff, but winters are too mild nowadays. I love extremes such as Canada offers, but we just seem to get wind and rain. We live on a hillside facing west, some 20 miles from Manchester. May and June are the best months here, fresh verdant pastures and blue skies with occasional showers. This is very much sheep farming country, though sadly many farms are lying empty now and the baa of sheep is being replaced by silence - all very sad. I'll try and get a photo posted soon.

we're not jealous. we've got more potholes in the road round san antonio bay than you'll ever have in the derbyshire peaks!! no we didn't get any snow in that cold snap just before xmas but if it makes it any better for you we hate summer here - 96% humidity is not nice, it's like living in the world of perspiration. Spook, being a local takes it all in her strid, lounging about on the balcony.

I'm the Board's part timer as I don't have a computer, but I catch up when I'm at Ann's. I really enjoyed working my way through this thread and seeing where other members live. Ann and I went to a Garden Centre this afternoon. It's about a half hour drive from where we live and is in the middle of the Northumbrian countryside. The weather was mixed, sunshine, some very heavy showers and a cold wind, but we did manage to get this shot. It's the view you get when you're in the coffee shop. Jen

This is another post on behalf of Topaz. He and his wife live in Derbyshire, a county that has some stunning scenery. This is a picture of his house although he'll have to tell you exactly which one is his. Just imagine seeing those views every time you look out of a window! Ann pp Topaz

We live in the house on the right facing the camera. above the roof to the west is the village of Chinley and behind the hills in the distance is the Irish Sea (50 miles away) from where a hailstorm is approaching. The wind whistles up the valley and slams into the front of our house. The field i'm standing on is used by our friends as a toboggan run on the rare occasions when it snows. Over the hills to my left and 8 miles away is the town of Buxton, home of spring water and a famous opera house. Our overseas littermates may have heard of it, as every August a Gilbert and Sullivan festival is held there, drawing in participants from all round the world, esp Canada I believe.

This is one of our beaches in winter. Same beach, just after the worst of a storm. This was a cave until the wind and freezing rain washed the rocks down to close the opening.

This thread just gets better and better. It's so interesting seeing all the pictures. Heather, the last of the pictures you posted reminded me of the coastline of a small village a couple of miles north of me. It's actually where my Dad's family lived for over 200 years! This is the only picture of it that I have on the computer at the moment, but you can probably get the idea from them. We don't usually get snow lying or icicles forming so close to the sea here though. I don't envy either Heather or Lesley those extreme winters! Ann

Vicki,
Email the picture to me as a file attachment and I'll load it into my Webphotos album and send you the code so you can just copy and paste it into your message. I'd really like to see a picture of Portland.

Hi friends I'm siamese Méia and live in Brazil, State Minas Gerais near the city of Belo Horizonte. Actually we - me and my humans and d*g (!) don't live in the city itself but in a coutry house nearby. Here is a photo of a flowering silk cotton tree just as I can see it from my favorite sunning place on the veranda: The nearest beach is about 500 km away but I'll show a pic of Cabo Frio (state Rio de Janeiro) where we us to be on our summer vacations. intermega.globo.com/relogiosolar/images/praiacf01.jpg[/img]Purrssss
